The cabin
Tall Timber is where we host our own family holidays, so it's set up the way a full house actually needs to be. The kitchen island is where everyone ends up standing around while dinner gets made, and the kids will have claimed the bunk room before you've finished unloading the car.
Two mini-splits keep it comfortable year-round, with real heat on the coldest nights and cooling when summer comes. There's a wood stove for the nights you feel like lighting a fire, though the heat is covered either way. It shares a wall with Tiny Timber next door, and each side has its own entrance, kitchen, bath, and porch. Groups take both sides of the duplex together all the time.

What a guest said
"We really enjoyed our stay at Tall Timber. The photos truly don't do this house justice. The beds were comfortable with nice linens and the sofa was big enough for the whole family to watch a movie. The distance to White Pass for skiing was so convenient we'll definitely be back to enjoy summer at Mt Rainier."
Where it sits
Packwood is the kind of town that has one grocery store and, somehow, two breweries. The park entrance is 3 miles up the road, White Pass is 15 minutes, and Seattle is about two hours and fifteen minutes away. If you're planning the trip, we keep a running list of things to do nearby and where to eat and drink.
Traveling as a couple instead? Tiny Timber, the A-frame next door, is exactly what it sounds like.
